Bluebill Drake
Wonderful
bluebill drake by Chincoteague Island's most famous carver, Ira
Hudson. The paint is worn with age as one would expect with a
decoy made in about 1900-1925. Hollow, with very heavy double
ballast weight. Tack eyes, and lots of sworls left. Great
patina!

goldeneye drake, ca. 1920. Loops and lines in great shape.
Cinnamon Teal Hen
This cinnamon teal hen decoy is the only teal decoy of any
species carved by Tom Dailey (San Francisco) that has ever been
discovered. Carved before the turn of the 20th century, it has
shoe-button eyes, great original paint, and simple elegant bill
carving. Dimensions are 12 x 4.25 x 6 (L x W xH) inches.
Ward Brothers Canvasback
This is an old Ward Brothers balsa canvasback, signed by Lem and
Steve Ward in 1948. Steve Ward may have retouched the a small
patch of the black on the chest.
John
and Goldie Hyatt (Pekin, Illinois) Brook Trout, ca. 1940.
This is a one-of-a-kind fish carving done by John Hyatt and
painted by his wife Goldie. Dimensions are 18 x 2.5 x 4 (L x W x
H) inches. Goldie and John were married in 1912. They settled in
Pekin Illinois, and left the state only once. The occasion was a
trip to Thompson's Resort on Gladstone Lake, near Brainerd
Minnesota. Although John was familiar with oil paints, Goldie
painted nearly all of his carvings, including his famous
miniatures and full-sized owls. Her attention to detail is
apparent on this beautiful carving.
Outstanding Matched Pair of
Ward Brothers Pintails Now Available: Outstanding matched
pair of late 1920’s-early 1930’s slope-breast solid cedar
Ward Brothers pintails in excellent original gunning
condition. The drake’s head is turned to the left at about
30 degrees. From the left side, he has 12 shot holes (2
containing shot). He also has a graze across the chest and
one across the mid-back. The right side is undamaged.
Rigged but no longer has weight. The hen’s head turns
slightly inward to the right, the side on which she has 7
shot holes. She also a shot graze across the crown of her
head. Both birds have normal (minor) wear from use.

Provenance: Noted sculptor and conservationist Bruce
Killen (Medford, Oregon) purchased this pair of decoys
in 1977-81 from a private collector in Northern
California.
In 1960, this collector had purchased pairs of different
styles of Ward Brothers pintails and mallards from William
Burroughs, Jr., son of one of the original members of the
White Mallard Gun Club, Colusa County, California.

Lowery, ca. 1920. These rare decoys are is
excellent original condition. Lowery carved very few
decoys and they are impossible to find in this
condition--that is, until now!

Extremely
rare matched pair of REAL gunning Evans split-hollow
mammoth pintails. All original worn paint, but speculums
are still there on each decoy. The paint is old and
crazed on the drake, and faded out on the hen. Ask for
extra pictures of each decoys -- these are a
one-of-a-kind find for any Evans collector! Asking price
is $11,500.
